The accident took place inside the Missing Link tunnel on the Mumbai Pune route.
Tushar Bhumkar, a young political leader from the Wakad area of Pune, died on the spot following an accident in the 'Missing Link' tunnel late Thursday night (at 1:30 AM) while traveling from Mumbai to Pune.
Tushar and a friend were driving from Mumbai to Pune in a Toyota Fortuner. While passing through the 'Missing Link' tunnel, Tushar lost control of the vehicle due to high speed, while their car crashed into a large container truck. Tushar died instantly, while his friend sustained serious injuries and has been urgently admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.
Upon receiving news of the accident, Khandala Highway Police Sub-Inspector Bhimsen Shikhare rushed to the scene with his colleagues; with the assistance of the Road Development Corporation's machinery, they extricated the injured from the tempo and sent them to the hospital.
Tushar's death has deeply saddened the residents of the Wakad area. Political figures and leaders are paying tribute to him.
